Charner Poole Scaife, the son of William Scaife, Jr. (13 December 1799 - 11 May 1837) and of Mary Crosby Poole (19 April 1802 - 11 March 1892), was born 21 March 1830 in DeKalb County, Georgia. On 6 October 1853, he was married to Sarah Ann Hollingsworth (23 April 1836 - 9 October 1875), the daughter of Isaiah Hollingsworth (23 September 1799 - BEF 3 March 1878) and Martha "Patsy" Chandler (ABT 1803 - 1888). About 1855, he, his wife, and his mother moved from Georgia to Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, settling near Homer. In Louisiana, as in Georgia, he was a planter of cotton. He died, in Claiborne Parish, on 2 April 1895.

Charner Poole Scaife and Sarah Ann Hollingsworth had the following children:

  01. Edith Olivia Scaife (2 September 1854 - 14 September 1890), who was married to Victor Ernest St. Cloud on 24 April 1877.

02. Charner Augustus ("Gus") Scaife, M.D. (18 March 1856 - 26 March 1900), who was married to Leoma Enoch Barkman (30 August 1860 - 19 April 1942) on 2 January 1877.

03. Martha ("Mattie") Elizabeth Scaife (28 November 1857 - 31 December 1891), who was married to Preston S. Smith on 1 May 1883. Preston S. Smith was the son of M. Jackson Smith (ABT 1828 - ?) and Martha Jane Hollingsworth (1 March 1832 - ?), the sister of Sarah Ann Hollingsworth.

04. James Madison Scaife (19 January 1860 - 11 August 1912), who was married to Rhoda Missouri ("Tiny" or "Tennie") Colvin (9 October 1858 - 20 January 1944), in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, on 18 December 1881.

05. William Isaiah Scaife, M. D. (16 May 1862 - 31 July 1902), who was married to Blondel Elizabeth Griffin (27 February 1869 - ?), in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, on 17 November 1891. William Isaiah Scaife is buried in Old Homer Cemetery in Homer, Louisiana. His gravestone bears the emblem of the Woodmen of the World and is inscribed "He giveth his beloved sleep."

06. Roland Lee Scaife, M. D. (11 June 1864 - 11 July 1904), who was married to Hammie Moore 19 March 1893.

07. Robert Hollingsworth Scaife, M. D. (5 January 1867 - 25 December 1904), who was married to Nevada Gibbs (25 December 1878 - 2 June 1960) ABT 1887.

08. Ruth Scaife (1 January 1869 - 18 November 1950), who was married to George Edward Ramsey on 7 June 1899.

09. Margaret ("Maggie") Alice Scaife (25 February 1872 - 2 October 1909), who was married to John Phillip Zeigler on 19 October 1897.

10. Adam Scaife (29 September 1875 - 2 December 1895).

 
After the death of Sarah Ann Hollingsworth in 1875, Charner Poole Scaife was married, on 1 October 1885, in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, to Mary ("Mollie") Elizabeth Hester (née Cooper). From this union, a son, Fletcher Terry Scaife, was born, in Homer, Lousiana, on 29 March 1888. After the death of Charner Poole Scaife, Mary Hester Scaife and her son immigrated to Texas where, on 24 February 1910, Fletcher Terry Scaife was married to Minnie Ola Blount.
Charner Poole Scaife and Sarah Ann Hollingsworth lie interred in the Scaife family plot in Forest Grove Cemetery, near Arizona, Louisiana.
