Map of Matagorda Bay, Texas Seth Eastman "arrived in Matagorda Bay on 5th November '48, day after the danger of being wrecked." The arrows on his map show how the sandbar at the entrance to the bay, through Cavallo Pass between Matagorda Island and the Matagrorda Peninsula, was negotiated. The map shows a settlement at Decros Point, on the tip of the Matagorda Peninsula; and it shows the location of Indian Point (Indianola, Old Indianola") where the Louisiana, from New Orleans by way of Galveston, transporting Sarah Rebecca MCCLELLAN (née LUCAS) would dock at 1:00 PM, 9 April 1851.
