THE FAMILY MORRIS: ST. PETER'S CATHEDRAL CHURCH

In 1699, Liverpool was made a parish distinct from Walton in perpetuity, 20s 3d being paid yearly to the rector of Walton and 2s 3d to the vicar. £400 was ordered to be raised towards building a new church dedicated to St Peter. Thus, in 1704, St. Peter's Cathedral Church, located on Church Street in Liverpool, was consecrated. Demolition of the building was completed 2 October 1922.

The photograph below shows St. Peter's after its churchyard had been converted into a public park.

The photograph below shows the interior of St. Peter's.

By Act of Parliament, in 1715, the construction of St. George's Church began in Liverpool, in 1726. The last services were conducted at St George's Church in 1897, its site being acquired for purposes of improvement by the municipal government on 26 December.
